    Citizenship Programs & Clinics

    Through the National Partnership for New Americans, 12 of the largest immigrant advocacy organizations in the country have combined their vast resources and collective reach and experience in order to launch Become a Citizen Now!, a one-stop, free resource for people nationwide to access information about the naturalization process.

    In addition, each Partner offers citizenship services on the ground in 11 different states, with the exception of NYIC, which offers invaluable citizenship and legal services training, plus technical assistance to Partners.

    The New Americans Initiative: Becoming a Citizen (NAI) program is a partnership between Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) and the State of Illinois to enable immigrants to become U.S. Citizens and to become active participants in our democracy – creating a lasting positive impact on our communities. NAI coordinates services to help immigrants naturalize, provides legal services, and extensive community outreach through trainings, workshops, and media campaigns. More...

    The Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition (MIRA) helps coordinate the Massachusetts Citizenship Campaign (MCC) which aims to address barriers to citizenship through a variety of approaches including public education campaigns, increasing service capacity, and application assistance. Working in partnership with our 140+ member organizations throughout the state, the MCC seeks to expand the direct services available at no cost to immigrants who are or soon will be eligible to naturalize.     CASA de Maryland's New Americans Citizenship Project of Maryland addresses the unique reasons why LPRs are not naturalizing through a comprehensive and coordinated citizenship promotion program. The Project involves three key components: direct immigrant integration services; information gathering; and community involvement, leadership development, and volunteer management. More...

     

    Drawing from the experience and support of local partners and the Partnership, Causa Oregon is implementing its first ever Citizenship Program. Using the group processing model, Causa aims to assist 125 eligible LPR's with a legal review of their N-400 application and provide general citizenship outreach to 4,000 eligible LPR's across the State of Oregon.     The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles (CHIRLA) American Dream Citizenship Campaign seeks to assist low income immigrant working families through the naturalization process. We offer citizenship assistance, fee waiver assistance and green card renewal services. CHIRLA is a recognized charitable organization with the Bureau of Immigration Appeals and has an accredited representative on staff to better serve our applicants. We see citizenship services as a vital step in assuring that immigrant communities fully participate in the democratic and electoral process. More...

     

    The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) joins with other local partners to run the Colorado Ya Es Hora Citizenship campaign (YEH) which seeks to incorporate immigrants as full participants in the American political process through affordable, professional and trusted citizenship workshop services and education. YEH works in partnership with the Colorado chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and Univision/Entravision to provide the following services at no cost: More...

     

    The Florida Immigrant Coalition (FLIC) is launching its first citizenship program in the sunshine state, aiming to provide opportunities of full integration for South Florida’s Haitian community.     For more than ten years, the New York Immigration Coalition (NYIC) has been the designated training arm for the New York State Citizenship Initiative, providing citizenship and legal services training and technical assistance to all grantee organizations that receive state citizenship funding.     The Washington New Americans (WNA) program is a partnership between the State of Washington and OneAmerica designed to help immigrants overcome barriers to citizenship. Our goal is to promote successful immigrant integration by connecting eligible Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) to the information and services they need to successfully pursue citizenship and become active members of our community.     The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition's (TIRRC) Citizenship Workshop is a one day event where Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs) qualified to become citizens receive assistance from volunteer attorneys, law students, and community members to apply for naturalization at no cost for the service.
